Sea of Jubilee 2023: A look back
Returning to the grassroots spirit of cultural street art, Beautiful Beginnings Arts Collective (BBAC) brought together artists across genres and traditions in a breathtaking visual, moving prayer. Sea of Jubilee was the first Carnaval Comparsa organized by BBAC in collaboration with San Francisco Community School, Community Well, Bayview SOL and San Francisco Circus Center. With over 150 registered participants ages 4-86, we reverberated as a song of praise for the energy of creation. Through visuals, music and movement, our collective vision shined in a dance of connection: not melting cultures but uplifting different traditions. From Mali to Brasil, from Colombia to Haiti, we rejoiced in community traditions, highlighting the power beyond individual accomplishment. Ours was a true artistic collaboration designed to ignite purpose in our children and to make our teachers proud. Central to Sea of Jubilee were our 11 honorees, our beloved teachers, who danced, walked and rode with us. Giving thanks!!!
